NOAH V3.1.1 - Risk Assessment
NOAH V3.1.1 - Risk Assessment
The good news is that V3.1.1 is the most extensively tested NOAH release to-date.
That said, you should be aware that V3.1.1 is a major change in database structure and
code and this may result in some new bugs surfacing as more people start using it.
Reasons to upgrade to V3.1.1:
- you require better and faster 'search' capability.
- you are looking for an improved user interface for 'move' command.
- you like the improvements to 'bookmarking' of directories and other new features.
- you anticipate a large influx of new files and dirs and want to be ready with a better database structure.
- you have a WasteBasket that is out of control and you like the new WasteBasket organization and purge commands.
- your 'admin' directory is filling up with bogus sendmail.tab backups and you want the new 'esend' fix.
- you are using NOAH for the first time and don't want to have to 'convert' your database later.
- you want to be on a better supported platform going forward.
Reasons to DELAY your V3.1.1 upgrade:
- your users are in the midst of a major release and you don't want to 'rock the boat' with a new NOAH release.
- you don't use the 'search' options and you have a small database (less than 1000 documents) and would rather wait for others to turn up any new bugs.
- you are too busy at this time to carefully backup, convert and validate your database with V3.1.1.
NOTE:
If you decide to DELAY your upgrade, be aware that bug fixes and new features will be only added to V3.1.1.
