noah-help - NOAH Documentation Management Server General Help
The Nordicwind Document Management System (NOAH) is a server-based documentation system that manages document revisions in a central repository.
NOAH’s Web browser interface makes it easy for a user to create, update, lock, search and manage revisions of a family of documents for access by multiple users across many geographical sites.
In a Debian
release, you will find NOAH files in the following
locations:
/usr/lib/cgi-bin/noah
This is where the cgi-bin scripts reside if you have a typical apache2 installation. The http login is: http://localhost/cgi-bin/noah/login.cgi
/var/www/noah
This is were the html files, javascript libraries and css layout scripts reside. There is also a sub directory nwicons with the NOAH and Nordicwind Inc. icons.
/usr/lib/noah/admin
The administration scripts exist here along with a subdirectory /etc which is typically a link to /etc/noah where configuration templates and variables are set.
/etc/noah/database.config
This configuration file defines the location of the database (typically /var/lib/noah/data) and maketext directory (typically /usr/lib/cgi-bin/noah/maketext).
A typical cgi-bin script will read this configuration file and then know where to go to find the noah.config file. These parameters define the behaviour of the webpage interface to NOAH. There is a noah.config button on the home web page when you log in as user=admin which explains these parameters and shows current values.
/usr/lib/cgi-bin/noah/maketext
This directory contains the scripts for creating the content search files in the database. One can add more scripts or improve on the existing ones to add more file types for content searching of documents.
